The Success Story of the 8th World Conference on Women’s Studies 2022 (WCWS 2022)

The 8th World Conference on Women’s Studies 2022 (WCWS 2022) was held from 12th – 14th of May in Virtual Platform under the theme “Feminist Futures in Precarious Times: Decoloniality, Boarderlands, and Transformative Visions.” The conference was organized by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka and hosted by the Asian-African Association for Women, Gender, and Sexuality (AAAWGS) with Bridgewater State University, USA and Tokyo Gakugei University, Japan.

The conference united diverse researches and case studies from all over the world, in parallel sessions while offering many networking and publishing opportunities. Moreover, the conference welcomed 100+ Academicians, Researchers, Scholars, Activists and Professionals from 30+ 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 across the globe.

INAUGURATION CEREMONY AND KEYNOTE SPEECH

The opening remarks of WCWS 2022 were made by Mr. Isanka P. Gamage (Co-Founder & Managing Director – The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka) and the Conference Chair, Prof. Diana J. Fox (Professor and Chairperson, Department of Anthropology, Journal of International Women’s Studies, Bridgewater State University, United States). Representing the partner universities, Dr. Naoki Suzuki (Tokyo Gakugei University, Japan), Dr. Sharifah Nurul Huda Alkaff (Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Brunei), Dr. Hind Elhinnawy (Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom) addressed the gathering. The Keynote Speaker was Joan Mathieu, Immigration Lawyer from USA. She delivered her Keynote Speech on the title “Refugees, Women, and Global Migration: A Call for Greater Understanding.”

The Conference provided an opportunity for participants to share their valuable knowledge from various perspectives. This conference had representation from almost every continent and regions across the world, to share views and ideas on Women’s Studies and network with international colleagues.
